Dog & Cat Wellness Care in San Antonio

Preventive Care for Dogs & Cats

At Alamo Dog and Cat Hospital, we prioritize your pet’s health above all else. Our dedicated team of veterinarians is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care for your furry companions. With a focus on quality, we ensure that every visit to our hospital is met with personalized attention and expert medical guidance.

What to Expect at Your Pet’s Wellness Exam

During your pet’s wellness exam, our veterinarians conduct a thorough assessment to ensure their health and well-being. This includes:

Examination of eyes, ears, teeth, and lymph nodes in the neck for cats and dogs
Assessment of heart, lungs, and abdomen for any abnormalities for both cats and dogs
Evaluation of skin, coat, and joints for both cats and dogs
Observation of overall behavior for signs of illness or discomfort for both cats and dogs

For dogs, we emphasize the importance of proactive wellness care. This includes regular administration of heartworm preventatives, up-to-date vaccinations, and a nutritionally balanced diet suitable for their age and lifestyle. Additionally, we advocate for flea and tick measures to safeguard your canine companion against external parasites.

And our feline friends benefit from comprehensive preventive care measures too- in a calming environment. By prioritizing preventive healthcare, we aim to mitigate potential health risks and ensure a long, happy life for your beloved feline friend.

At Alamo Dog and Cat Hospital, we understand that your pet is a cherished member of your family. That’s why we strive to provide transparent communication and empower pet owners with a thorough understanding of their pet’s health status and treatment options. Your pet’s well-being is our priority, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

No one ever wants an emergency situation with a pet, but if it happens, this team provides excellent and efficient care. You can call ahead to get your pet on the queue. The vet spoke with me at length and discussed possibilities so we could determine a treatment plan for my girl. She gave additional medications to be on the safe side and cover any contingent infections, and one of the medications is helping her feel better. She helped me get an ultrasound appointment asap, so hopefully we will soon know more and develop a long term plan going forward. Also all the helpers at the front desk are knowledgeable, kind, and patient, and understand the stress and worries of a pet parent going through medical challenges.
